Two new Java Platform 8 phones: K630 and V640

Sony Ericsson recently announced two new mobile phones based on Sony Ericsson’s Javaâ„¢ Platform 8 (JP-8) which supports Mobile Services Architecture (MSA), the next-generation Javaâ„¢ umbrella standard (JSR 248).

The new K630 mobile phone is feature-packed, fully equipped to manage work life as well as pictures, videos, music and games. The new V640 is a variant of the K630 exclusively for Vodafone. Both phones have 3G and High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network support, delivering data at speeds comparable to or better than fixed-line broadband access systems.

Sony Ericsson K630The K630 has a slim and stylish “stick” form factor yet is packed full of features. This HSDPA/UMTS phone includes a 176×220 pixel 262K TFT display, 2 Megapixel camera, Memory Stick Microâ„¢ removable storage, picture blogging, Track IDâ„¢ music recognition service, Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync and HTML browsing, featuring desktop widgets and RSS feeds, benefiting from HSDPA broadband speed. Applications can run in the background enabling multitasking, for example, talk and browse, send messages or download music at the same time.

Sony Ericsson K640The Sony Ericsson V640 is a music- and entertainment-focused phone exclusively for Vodafone and the TrackID music recognition service provides a direct link to Vodafone’s Music Store for fast track download. Like the K630, this HSDPA/UMTS phone includes a 176×220 pixel 262K TFT display, 2 Megapixel camera, Memory Stick Micro removable storage, picture blogging and full HTML browser benefiting from HSDPA broadband speed.

The V640 will be available exclusively in Vodafone stores during Q4 2007. More information and specifications here
