Asphalt 3 - Street Rules 1Having decided to get a copy of Asphalt 3: Street Rules a couple of days ago. I didn’t waste any time in trying out the game. Whenever I find time over the last couple of days, I tried out Asphalt 3: Street Rules.

Asphalt 3: Street Rules is the third of a series of racing arcade mobile game from Gameloft. It’s a java mobile game that is available in several mobile phones. I played the game on a Nokia N80 to be able to see what it has to offer on a mobile phone that has a higher resolution. The graphics looks good on the Nokia N80.

With the Asphalt 3 mobile game you race against several other cars to the finish line. One feature that’s exciting about the race is that on occassions, the cops will initiate a hot pursuit to try and capture you for being a haphazard driver (which is probably why I get cops on my tail most of the time during the race).

You get to race across the world (e.g. San Francisco, Rome, Tokyo). Extra events or locations are revealed or enabled depending on the amount of money you have amassed for yourself. You can choose your car or bike. The choices also depend on how much money you have.

One feature that gives the game a touch of reality is the ability to tune your car or bike. Tuning, which can be done in several ways, include the type of tire, engine, air filters, weight modification, vehicle exhaust type, transmission, on-board computers and more. For example, tuning by selecting an engine type will vary the car or bike’s maximum speed.

For the added bonus, you can also choose your own girlfriend. Be careful of who you choose, though, coz it has an effect on the race.

Some game screens:

The graphics looks great on the Nokia N80 and the sound can be enabled or disabled. It would have been better if the sound’s loudness can be controlled since it’s a bit loud on my mobile phone. The speed of the animation on the Nokia N80 was smooth enough not to notice any image shearing. The response to the mobile phone keys was also good. This game will probably last me a month before I can finish all the tracks or get bored and find a new one. All in all it’s a great java mobile game and I would give it a 5/5 rating.
