Gameloft expands into Mobile Games For Touch Screen cell phones

Gameloft, which was recently announced as the no. 1 mobile gaming company , is now expanding its reach with the announcement of several games crafted for touch screen equipped mobile phones.

The mobile phone industry has been churning out more and more touch screen based cell phones. The increased number of these type of mobile phones and Gameloft’s existing resources and expertise in creating games for the Nintendo DS platform (Assassin’s Creed for Nintendo DS ), Gameloft is now pushing for creating more mobile games for the devices.

Michel Guillemot, President and CEO of Gameloft has this to say about it:

“The hype for 2008 will focus on the emergence of these new handsets and Gameloft has already gotten a head start. This is a new step in terms of development, one that leads us to rethink how we approach our game controls so that players can interact directly with the screen and get a greater gaming experience. Touch screen games are perfect examples of how modern technology can advance the gaming industry.”

Gameloft already has more than 15 touch screen games in its catalogue, including Block Breaker Deluxe, Brain Challenge and Brain Challenge 2, Bubble Bash, Platinum Solitaire, Chessmaster, Miami Nights: Single in the City, Paris Hilton’s Diamond Quest, Catchphrase, Deal or No Deal, Shrek the Third, Real Football: Manager Edition, and CSI Miami. These games were developed for the first touch screen mobile phones available on the market, including the LG Viewty, LG KS20, the HTC touch screen line, and the Samsung SGH-F700.

As more and more mobile phones are created with touch screens, touch screen based mobile games will increase and it looks like Gameloft is aggressively moving into the market to keep it’s lead in the industry. I for one am really excited ‘coz while for the developers, this presents another avenue to be creative and competitive, this will also create a whole new level of mobile gaming experience that will benefit the consumers.

Hmmm, let me see, how do I get to play these games.
