I got a copy of the new Pub Darts 180 Java mobile game from Vivendi Games Mobile yesterday. I love playing a game of darts every now and then so didn’t waste any time playing the mobile game. If you love playing darts, buy the mobile game, you’ll love it.
This is one of the new games planned for the first half of 2008 recently announced by Vivendi and is a sequel to the Pub Darts mobile game. You can play Pub Darts 180 in 5 modes - Quick Play, Pub Tour, Single Game, Survivor and Multiplayer.
The graphics looks great especially the creation of the dart board which gives the feeling of actually looking at a real dart board. The real challenge actually lies on how to depict the throwing of the darts in a mobile game. Before I got the game, I was really curious at how the developers will mimic the dart-throwing activity on the mobile phone.
FinBlade, the developer of the mobile game, has actually provided a cool solution. Although I am not sure that it provides a way to factor in the weight of the darts, your adrenalin levels and other stuff that might affect the way you would throw a dart but the solution works. The solution actually works enough to provide you with an entertaining game of darts on your mobile phone.
I particularly like playing the 501 and you can play the it with friends on your mobile phone. When I saw that Pub Darts 180 has a multiplayer feature, I initially thought that this mobile game allows you to play the game of darts with someone on another mobile phone via bluetooth.
Much to my surprise (and it’s actually a simpler solution), multiplayer is done using just one mobile phone — yours. During the game, after your turn is finished throwing the darts, you will have to pass your mobile phone to your opponent so that he can have his turn at the dart board. Not exactly high tech but gets the job done.
Overall, it’s actually a very good mobile game and it lets you play a game of virtual darts wherever you go as long as you bring your phone with your of course.
