HTC Android mobile phone launch

Pocket-Lint’s post speculates that the event might the moment that a lot of us have been waiting for these pass months. As we all know, HTC has supported the Google Android open mobile platform from the very start and has promised a mobile phone based on Android. The HTC event is going to be held in London this May.
I was wondering if this is going to be the launch of the first Android-based mobile phone, does this mean that the current Android SDK is version 1? I doubt that.
What do you think? Is this going to be the first launch of an Android-based mobile phone?
