Midnight Bowling 2 splashOver the weekend, I had the opportunity of playing a mobile game which was welcome relaxation from my activities. The mobile game is Midnight Bowling 2. If you love playing sports game on your mobile phone, you’ll like this game for the simple idea of being able to play bowling with friends right in your living room.

The graphics are well made and the layout of the game screen is great. In a single glance, you’d see your score and what pins are still standing up. It provides a first person view of the bowling lane with you holding the bowling ball right in front of you.

Bowling using your mobile phone was actually easy to learn. It pretty much provides an accurate simulation of how you’d play it on a real bowling alley. It considers four things when you throw that bowling ball — the position you are standing on the bowling alley, the force by which you throw the ball, the direction of your release of the ball and the movement of your wrist when you release the ball. I said pretty much ‘coz I don’t know if it considers fatigue while playing although I’m sure you’ll experience some of it if you play the game in overly extended hours but not the same level as you’d play on a real bowling alley. ;-)

It offers several modes of play including a “career mode” and multi-player. In career mode, you’ll be able to track your statistics and progress when playing with opponents. New challenges/opponents are unlocked while you progress thru the mobile game. Traveling to places and playing in different bowling alleys to challenge the champions.

The multi-player mode is much more fun though ‘coz it allows you to play the mobile game with friends and family. If you have one of those mobile phones that you can hook up to a TV like a Nokia N95, you can all watch the guy’s bowling prowess right from the living room’s television set. Oh, btw, multi-player is called battle mode.

Challenge mode is great for practice. During this mode, the game churns out “pin scenarios”. By successfully putting down the pins, you get medals. I think the more important use of the mobile game mode on Midnight Bowling 2 is that it allows you to practice and analyze the way you should bowl. Plus it has an instant replay showing you what happened during the bowling frame you were playing.

The mobile game was quite a lot of fun and relaxing actually. Takes the stress off your mind and provides enjoyment whether you want to play alone or with others.
