I really enjoyed playing the Kobe Bryant mobile game the last time and being able to play NBA Smash is great. If you had played the Kobe Bryant basketball mobile java game, NBA Smash lets you play more of the street type of basketball.
It didn’t take me too long to play the game since it has the same keys as the Kobe Bryant mobile game. One thing I liked about playing NBA Smash is that I could concentrate more on gameplay since I only have to deal with 2 players instead of 5 in a full court basketball game. Also the screen characters are bigger having to deal with fewer players.
The graphics background on the SE810 is good and provides a backdrop of the typical street courts with spectators watching the game.
If you’re itching to play and try it out like I did the instant play game mode provided by NBA Smash is a welcome feature. One click on the menu and it’s good to go.
I don’t think you’d stop right there. We’ll there’s more game modes in store. There’s exhibition, career mode, tournament and challenge.
The modes are more or less similar to the Kobe Bryant J2ME game. I particularly liked the career mode of game play which lets you choose a level of difficulty, a team. You can then create players and even choose their appearance, skills (defensive, offensive, shooting …).
You’ll then get to choose your teammates from a pool of players. There are team management like player recruitment and match scheduling functions.
Once, your setup, you can start playing the matches and track your career and improvement. No need to worry if you get interrupted by work
, you can always continue later.
One thing I find funny is this third player from the opponent’s team that will suddenly sneak into the game and take the ball away from you when you’re just about to make that magnificent shot. Shoosh, such a kill joy. Anyway the mobile game is great but I’m still waiting for the fun in being able to play against your opponent using bluetooth (I wish).
Here’s some of the screen shots of the NBA Smash mobile Java game:
