DevelopmentI’ve just read an announcement that the Android SDK 1.5 will be released around the end of the month. In the mean time developers can get access to a pre-release version to enable them to start using the Android SDK 1.5 during development. It looks like a bunch of Cupcake mods will be made available in SDK 1.5 of Android. Some of the new features in Android SDK 1.5 include soft keyboards, home screen widgets, live folders, and speech recognition.
The Android development team has just made available version 1.1 release 1 of the Android SDK. This is inline with the recent updates to Android devices providing new features and functionality. API changes are quite minor. Several items have been fixed, some new features for the Map and dialer have been added, plus several API changes. You can check out the release notes.
The focus of NetBeans IDE 6.5 is simplified and rapid development of web, enterprise, desktop, and mobile applications with PHP, JavaScript, Java, C/C++ , Ruby, and Groovy. Of course a lot of you are waiting for the PHP support, including me 
I recently came across this relatively new project called mewt. Mewt is one of those widget toolkit that helps mobile Java developers in creating consistent user interfaces for J2ME software on mobile phones.
If you want the latest and greatest of the NetBeans IDE, you can now download NetBeans 6.5 milestone 1 from the NetBeans web site. Some note worthy mobility enhancements are included in the upcoming version 6.5 release not to mention the much anticipated improvements in JavaScript support and of course PHP (I’ve tried out the early access and I’m eagerly awaiting for version 6.5.
Motorola has announced the availability of the MotoDev Studio 1.4 for developing J2ME applications. Support has been added for several Motorola mobile phones. If you remember, Motorola has taken lead of the EclipseME project and has released MotoDev Studio which is based on Eclipse and EclipseME.
In a bid to make it more easier for J2ME developers to create more consistent mobile Java applications, a group of developers at java.net have created the LWUIT project.
Cascada Mobile’s Breeze platform is now available under beta. Breeze is a mobile development tool that provides anyone with knowledge of even the most basic Web programming languages the easiest method for creating, testing and distributing mobile applications to phones anywhere in the world.
