Sony Ericsson extends its portfolio strategy to include support for the Open Handset Alliance, complementing existing Open OS strategy, and committing to produce an Android based phone in due course.

Sony Ericsson Developer World in China is running a prize draw where newly registered members are eligible to win one Sony Ericsson S500 phone per week. The competition is running from October 20 to December 14, 2008, so there is not much time left to try to win a new phone by becoming a new Chinese Community member.

The registration deadline for the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge is extended one week from November 28, 2008 to December 5, 2008 for the Americas region. Sony Ericsson is a co-sponsor of this competition, providing qualifying contestants with C905 and C702 phones and software tools to enable Java ME and Project Capuchin application creation.
