Android SDK 1.1 release 1 now available

android robot The Android development team has just made available version 1.1 release 1 of the Android SDK. This is inline with the recent updates to Android devices providing new features and functionality. API changes are quite minor. Several items have been fixed, some new features for the Map and dialer have been added, plus several API changes. You can check out the release notes.

After months of waiting (for us) and months of eye-popping adrenaline coding (for the participants) the list of Google Android Challenge winners are finally out. My congratulations to the winners of 275,000 (cab4me, CompareEverywhere, Ecorlo, GoCart, Life360, Locale, PicSay, Softrace, TuneWiki, Wertago) and 100,000 USD prices.

Android bluetooth API won’t be in SDK 1.0

I’ve just read an email about Google’s explanation of why the bluetooth API for Android won’t be in version 1.0 of the SDK. It’s kinda sad ‘coz we’d have to also see some delays in I would imagine pretty good ways of using bluetooth in an open mobile platform. Google explains …

Nokia buying Symbian, readies for Mobile race

With Nokia already owning about 48% of the Symbian company, they have made an offer to buyout the other owners (Sony Ericsson, Samsung and others). This is in addition to its recent buying spree — they just bought a Social Network startup called Plazes.
